Ancient Egyptian Painted Textile from the collection of R. de Rustafjaell

The paper represents the first detailed publication of the Ancient Egyptian painted textile of the New Kingdom from the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow (I,1а 6113). Formerly it belonged to the R. de Rustafjaell Collection. The purpose of the paper is to introduce a museum object, which was previously known only from a brief description and an early 20th-century black-and-white photograph, into scholarly discourse. The textile belongs to a group of painted cloths (about 30 in total) of the late 18th and early 19th Dynasty (14–13 centuries B.C.). They all have scenes of worship of the goddess Hathor. These cloths were brought as votive offerings to Hathor into her shrine in Deir el-Bahri. On the Pushkin Museum textile, the goddess is depicted as a sacred cow. Seven donators face her: three men and four women. These persons were most likely the members of a single family (parents and their children). Technological analysis shows that the painted textiles from Deir el-Bahri were both of professional and domestic production. The rather low quality of the threads as well as poor workmanship (the tension of the warp and weft threads was poorly regulated, the end of the right edge was not even, the density of the cloth was not uniform, there were other weaving errors as well) suggest that the manufacture of the Pushkin Museum textile was not the work of a professional weaver. The painting, on the other hand, was obviously done in a workshop by professional artists.

ЗАКЛЮЧЕНИЕ


1	Данная статья завершает публикацию памятников из коллекции Роберта де Рустафьелля, хранящихся в ГМИИ им. А.С. Пушкина. В 1913 г. в Лондоне на аукционе Сотби, Уилкинсона и Ходжа для Музея изящных искусств в Москве (ныне ГМИИ) были приобретены три памятника: додинастический глиняный саркофаг с мумией ГМИИ I, 1а 6122 [Анохина, Малых, Потрахов, Медникова, 2020; Анохина, Малых, Медникова, Орфинская, 2020], глиняный жертвенник эпохи Среднего царства ГМИИ I, 1а 6114 [Анохина, Малых, 2021] и расписная ткань эпохи Нового царства ГМИИ I, 1а 6113 (рис. 1).
2	В каталоге распродажи коллекции Р. де Рустафьелля 1913 г. сказано, что ткань, купленная Музеем, была найдена вместе с другими расписными тканями «в перемещенном верхнем слое на месте храма Хатхор в Фивах» – «in a mound of débris on the site of the Temple of Hathor at Thebes» [Rustaffjaell, 1913, p. 50–51]. Несомненно, имеется в виду святилище в Дейр эль-Бахри (Фивы, Западный берег Нила) эпохи XVIII династии. Там, на месте древнего храма Ментухотепа II (XI династия, XXI–XX вв. до н.э.) экспедиция под руководством Э. Навилля в сезоны 1905–1906 и 1906–1907 гг. обнаружила небольшие, как правило, прямоугольные, куски ткани с изображением поклонения богине Хатхор [Naville, 1913, p. 15; Pinch, 1993, p. 114].
3	В коллекции Р. де Рустафьелля находилось не менее семи расписных тканей из Дейр эль-Бахри [Rustaffjaell, 1913, p. 50–52]. Скорее всего, они были куплены у местных жителей или даже рабочих экспедиции Э. Навилля [Naville, 1913, p. 15; Pinch, 1993, p. 115]. Время покупки – лето 1905 г. [Rustafjaell, 1906, p. 242; 1915, p. 27]. Всего же расписных тканей из Дейр эль-Бахри со сценами поклонения Хатхор известно около 30. Помимо ГМИИ, они хранятся в Государственном Эрмитаже¹, Египетском музее Каира, Британском музее², Египетском музее Берлина, Королевском музее Онтарио³, Музее Метрополитен⁴, Музее изобразительных искусств Бостона, а также в частных коллекциях⁵ [Holder, 1993, p. 3–72; Pinch, 1993, p. 103–112; D’Auria, 1996]. 4	Ткани с изображением Хатхор представляют собой отдельный тип вотивных приношений. В Древнем Египте вотивы посвящались богам как личные дары, чтобы умилостивить божество или получить от него какую-то помощь [Pinch, Waraksa, 2009]⁶. Ткани изготавливали в относительно небольшой временной промежуток: вторая половина XVIII – начало XIX династии (XIV–XIII вв. до н.э.). Как было отмечено, они происходят из святилища в Дейр эль-Бахри, построенного при царице Хатшепсут или Тутмосе III [Holder, 1993, p. 1–2; Pinch, 1993, p. 112–115; Dolińska, 2007]. Культу Хатхор в Дейр эль-Бахри отводилось особое место еще в эпоху Среднего царства, как показывают памятники храмового комплекса царя Ментухотепа II. Традиция почитания богини сохранилась там и в последующие эпохи. Хатхор – одна из самых любимых и важных богинь древних египтян. Она была связана с идеями рождения и посмертного возрождения, а также плодородия в целом; она считалась небесной богиней, покровительницей любви и красоты, музыки и танца, защитницей на том и этом свете; ее культ был тесно связан с царским [Vischak, 2001; Томашевич, 2006; 2010]. В эпоху Древнего царства знатные женщины чаще всего именуются ее жрицами [Томашевич, 2018]. В погребениях и на территориях храмов, святилищ находят многочисленные предметы, связанные с культом Хатхор: женские статуэтки, музыкальные инструменты и украшения с символикой богини, фигурки коровы – ее священного животного (см. ниже), изображения божеств ее «свиты»: Бэса и Таурет и т.д. [Pinch, 1993; Томашевич, Анохина, 2020; Анохина, Малых, Смоленкова, Томашевич, 2022].	6. О практике обета (лат. ex voto – по обету) в Древнем Египте практически ничего не известно [Pinch, Waraksa, 2009, p. 2].
