Walter Jaeger’s Weissruthenien: the history of a book

The article explores the origins and distribution of the book «Weissruthenien», the first reference work on Belarus in German. Its publication was closely connected with the work of the diplomatic mission of the Belarusian People’s Republic in Berlin and Belarusian delegation to the peace conference in Paris. For a long time, this work had been perceived as a monographic study. However, it occurred to be rather an informational brochure compiled from scattered materials by its editor, German journalist Walter Jaeger. Due to various circumstances, the book did reach the general reader. The article, based on previously unknown archival documents, provides a reconstruction of its creation and further fate.
