Abstract

The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the methodological effectiveness of the constructive (based on schemes) thinking model developed on the basis of G. A. Shchedrovitsky's ideas for the cultural-historical analysis of the prerequisites of technological revolutions. The undertaken with the help of this model historical reconstruction of the thinking bases of the English Industrial Revolution allows to reveal the context in which the corresponding type of thinking was forming and functioned. This model leads the study to the practices of Italian architecture of the XV-XVI centuries, where drawings were widely used. This type of thinking, penetrating into various spheres of economic life of the Middle Ages, caused their constructivization (transformation on the basis of schemes of business into activity). Herewith in the course of the study, the vectors of improving constructive thinking are revealed, thanks to which this type of thinking spread from architecture to other areas of economic activity, and then permeated in other regions of Europe. The authors demonstrate that in this dynamic, the improvement of schemes, which goes in two directions, is crucial: towards the standardization of the schemes, which turns the drawing and other symbolic forms of “objects” and “subject” of practice into a universal tool for construction of reality, and towards a clear specification of the elements of the schemes in the course of their applications. In the framework of this methodological approach, the development of the constructive potential of schemes can be interpreted as a complex expanding context for the implementation of trends leading to industrial modernization in real historical conditions. Thus, the authors confirm the hypothesis of the specific mental prerequisites of industrialization and justify the effectiveness of the proposed methodological model of constructive thinking for the search of cultural and historical bases of industrial modernizations, including modern ones.
