Abstract

Ethno-cultural images (ECI) are not by chance of interest to researchers of various social disciplines: their effectiveness in solving an urgent regional problem which is the search and strengthening of the latest national and state identities in each of the five young independent republics of Central Asia is generally recognized. It is well known that the main resource in the creation of ECI is often historical and cultural heritage of the people, and therefore various ethnographic sources. One of them is a national costume. The article reveals who and for what purpose creates modern national costumes (significantly different from the complexes of traditional “ethnic clothing” of the past), what are their new functions inside and outside the state. Author notes the coexistence of two types of ECI in the modern mass culture of Central Asia. The distribution area of the first type is associated with large historical and cultural areas that developed in ancient times (such as Semirechye, Ferghana, Khorezm, Sogd, Margiana, etc.), and, of course, do not coincide with the borders of modern states. The population of each such historical and cultural area had its own local complexes of traditional clothing, which were the ECIs of these real and spontaneously formed cultural communities. Fragments of such images have partially preserved to the present. The second type of modern Central Asian ECI is represented by the latest “national costumes” that combine the features of modern “European” and generalized local traditional clothing. The creation of it began in Soviet times, but now their transformation has intensified, and the function is much clearer – this type of ECI serves only as a tool for constructing new national and state identities in each republic.

Два способа создания этнокультурных образов (ЭКО)
2 В среднеазиатском регионе поиск и укрепление национально-государственных идентичностей в каждой из пяти молодых независимых республик – одна из насущных проблем, в решении которой эффективно используют выразительные этнокультурные образы, интенсивно пропагандируемые властями. Тематика функционирования ЭКО активно разрабатывается разными общественными дисциплинами, в том числе и этнографией (хотя не все ее возможности пока исчерпаны). Обычно этнокультурные образы регионов любого масштаба ассоциируются с уникальными природными или выдающимися архитектурными и историческими памятниками, либо со своеобразным музыкально-песенным фольклором народов или даже просто с именами знаменитых земляков – со всем тем, что в массовом сознании связано с определенной территорией, вернее, с историей и культурой ее населения. Но для самих коренных жителей самым популярным и «беспроигрышным» источником такого рода образов, пожалуй, повсеместно остается традиционная народная культура.
3 К концу ХХ в. в республиках Средней Азии сохранность культурного наследия у разных социальных и территориальных групп населения оказалась неодинаковой. В сельской местности до сих пор заметны следы традиционного бытового уклада – и в повседневном семейном этикете, и в стиле убранства жилья, и в приверженности людей к старинным праздничным обыкновениям и религиозной обрядности. Эти элементы традиционной культуры и используются обычно в качестве новейших ЭКО, призванных символизировать единство новых независимых государств региона. Аналогичные тенденции наблюдаются во всех республиках бывшего Советского Союза, хотя на территории каждой из них общие процессы принимают свои формы и протекают с разной степенью интенсивности. Чтобы рассмотреть подробнее среднеазиатскую ситуацию (то есть выяснить основной адресат этих образов и условия их восприятия), необходимо вкратце напомнить об исторической структуре своеобразного культурного пространства, с которым непосредственно и связаны этнокультурные образы (в частности, феномен «национального» костюма).
4 Усилиями поколений отечественных этнографов создан огромный фонд сведений о традиционной культуре народов Средней Азии, и, опираясь на него, теперь можно обоснованно сравнивать этнокультурные образы двух рубежей – XX и ХХI веков. При этом обнаружилось, что способы создания этнокультурных образов и их ареалы соответствуют двум принципам структурирования всего среднеазиатского региона.
5 Первый способ создания региональных образов – «исторический»: на определенной, довольно обширной территории с разноязычным населением возникают некие общие символы, ЭКО (часто в виде общеизвестных артефактов, соотносимых с территориальными общностями разного масштаба), которые обычно формируются спонтанно и постепенно, как бы «сами собой». Однако до сих пор неясно, насколько они осознавались (и осознаются) населением; сведения древних и средневековых мусульманских историков на этот счет редки и касаются преимущественно локальных явлений1. 1. Спорным остается вопрос о знаменитых «святых местах» Бухары, Туркестана или Хорезма. С точки зрения «чужаков» (путешественников, завоевателей, ученых, позднее –туристов) восприятие этих религиозно-культурных объектов как ярких и характерных региональных образов несомненно, но мнения местных мусульман-паломников нам пока неизвестны, предстоит выяснить – являлись ли для них эти святыни символами именно Средней Азии или всё же прежде всего знаками «исламского мира и пространства»?
