Abstract

The article considers the attitude of the great Russian thinker A. F. Losev (1893–1988) to one of the most urgent scholarly problems at the turn of the 1910s-1920s – the search for a new synthetic methodology aimed at an interdisciplinary approach to the study of literary texts, synthesizing the experience of philological science – literary studies and linguistics, philosophy, aesthetics and art studies. The basis for our reconstruction of Losevʼs position is previously unknown archival material: a report prepared by him for obtaining the degree of doctor of Philology in March 1941.
