Abstract

The article is devoted to Yulian Yavorsky, the main figure in the scientific and intellectual life of the Galician Russophiles of the first third of the 20th century, as well as the fate of his personal book collection. Unlike Yavorsky’s archive, his library remained out of sight of researchers. After his death in 1937, it was transferred to the Osteuropa-Institut in Breslau andthereafter divided thematically, despite the original intention to preserve it as a whole. After the end of World War II, the rest of the books form the former collection of Yavorski came to the Lenin State Library of USSR in Moscow along with other trophy literature, where it was finally dispersed. The attempt of reconstruction of the Yavorski’s library is aiming to understand his personality,  to trace  the development of his scientific interests and  to identify personal contacts.
