Abstract

Part One of the study (Slavyanovedenie. 2018. No. 6) deals with such methods of protection from evil spirits, which were considered effective in cases in a situation of direct contact of a person with carriers of evil. Part Two (Slavyanovedenie. 2019. No. 6) scrutinised Polesian and Carpathian evidence of magic methods for detecting mythological personalities. The present article (Part Three) analyses forms of preventive protective magic, such as amulets aimed at prevention of potential, not yet actual evil. This apotropaic semantics is traced at the level of subject, actional and verbal forms. Identification of convergence between Polesie and the Carpathians in the sphere of lower mythology let fix contact zones between the Slavs and of the Slavs with foreign-speaking neighbours.
