Abstract

The publication introduces the letters of the nineteenth-century Czech writer Yulius Zeyer to Alois Kashpar. The main theme of the letters is Russia, emerging in the form of the writer’s constant reflection on Russian life, politics, relations with Russian people. At the same time, the corpus of letters by Zeyer to Kashpar is considered as a semiotically integral text with a clear system of repeating motifs, such as dreams about Russia; the «Crimean» motif; the motif of a steady interest in Russian literature, the fate of the Popov family, or reasonings about mental qualities of the Russian characterю.
