Abstract

Most significant works of Slovak literature, reflecting the theme of the First World War, were created by writers who had participated in those events. Based on their notes, diary entries and factual essays made by the authors at the front and in captivity, their books of the more mature period of their work are distinguished by the depth of artistic understanding of experience, psychologism and reliability of characters.
