Abstract

Romania’s entering in World War One on the side of Entente in August 1916 implied a multifaced cooperation with the new ally on the Eastern front – the Russian Empire. Military interaction of the two sides after the autumn defeats and retreat in Moldavia ended with the establishing of the Romanian Front with the King of Romania as its formal commander and the Russian general as an actual one. Their tactics of mutual compromises let the allies to deepen their cooperation in the wartime. As a consequence, the Romanian Front remained a stable unit in the Eeast up to Russia’s quit from the war.
