Abstract

This article considers some complicated cases of word usage in the modern Russian.

The author analyzes some paronyms, often found in oral and written business communication, as well as in text documents and the media, focusing on the features of their lexical compatibility. Intricate usage cases for these paronyms in modern Russian are associated with their different interpretations in reference books or new meanings, that have been renewed in business communication recently. Articles of different dictionaries were used in this paper with relevant references.

The correct use of paronyms is very important in business communication. Terms and other special language instruments, used in the business communication, should be accurate and unambiguous.

Examples in this paper point out some issues of paronyms usage in a literary language, in a written business communication: clarifying their meanings, adding new illustrative examples, changing stylistic marks and reflecting these changes in dictionaries. Furthermore, it has become even more clear that there is an urgent need to create an authoritative reference book for administrative and legal employees, covering intricate cases of paronyms usage.
