Abstract

It has been carried out the monitoring of the incidence of limbs, the morphofunctional status and bone system strength in cattle of local selection in comparison with imported animals have been determined in modern operating conditions. Morphological features of the musculoskeletal system of experimental animals were studied by the method of V.Ya. Brovar. Physical properties of the limb bones were examined for tension-compression on the UIM-10 test facility. The ultimate strength of the bone for compression was determined by the ratio of the greatest load that the sample sustained to the calculation of its area. Studies have shown that the greatest number of limb diseases, both in absolute (by 58-72 head) and relative units (by 19.3-24.4%) was observed among Holstein cows of American selection in comparison with local populations of cattle. It was found that to destroy a sample of animal bones, the local population required much more effort than the material obtained from imported livestock. In the metacarpal bone, these differences were 888-1315 kg (P>0.95-0.99), in the metatarsal - 937-1335 kg (P>0.95). As a result of efforts per 1 cm2 of the area of a compact substance, it was required more for the bone tissue of brown dumplings - 374.6 kg /cm2 and red steppe - 359.3 against 291.7 kg/cm2 for Holstein of American breeding, which indicates more high strength characteristics of animals of the local population (P>0.99). The analysis of morphometric parameters and the results of bone strength tests indicate that local brown Switz and Red Steppe cattle, which were bred for a long time under the conditions of strict pressure of natural selection, were more resistant to diseases of the extremities than those introduced into the North Caucasus by the Holstein of American selection, in conditions of hyperkinesias. They are characterized by a stronger bone structure, which allows them to be used both in stables and driven-away and mountainous areas.
