Abstract

The art of Spain during the Francoise dictatorship was in a state of stagnation and suffered irreparable losses. The poet Federico Garcia Lorca was killed. De Falla, Pablo Picasso, and Pablo Casals left the country. Since the second half of the 50s, the restoration of external relations has begun. A group of composers of Generation 51, who embarked on the path of updating the musical language, managed to bring musical creativity to a new level. Among them, the most famous are Cristobal Halfter, Luis de Pablo, Claudio Prieto and Anton Garcia Abril, whose works reflect the main trends of modern academic music-traditionalism, avant-garde and postmodernism.
