Abstract

The article analyzes the features of the organization of the work of a researcher throughout the late Soviet period and its assessment. The paper is based on both published and deposited in the fund of the Institute of Sociological Research of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR sociological research, as well as transcripts of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. This source complex makes it possible to reconstruct the main features of the organization of the work of scientists in the 1960—1970s and allows us to conclude that an insufficiently high level of organization led to low scientific productivity. Especially serious problems were observed in the field of technical supply. In addition, surveys show low satisfaction with the organization of scientific work, especially in the age group of 30—40 years. It can be assumed that everyday troubles have become an important factor in reducing scientic optimism among the scientific and technical intelligentsia.
