Abstract

This article analyses the publications by baron Egor Fedorovich Rozen in the newspaper “Literary Supplement to the Russky Invalid” edited by Alexander Voeikov. The history of Rozen’s work for the newspaper in the early 1830s is studied on the basis of his letters to Voeikov and the memoirs by Vladimir Burnashev. The article attempts to reconstruct the history of Rozen’s reviewal of the tragedy “Boris Godunov” by Alexander Pushkin, with the inference that the review was written in the second half of February 1831 and was originally intended for the “Literary Supplement to Russky Invalid”. The article also studies the works published in the newspaper under the cryptonym “R.” – the review of Nikolai Grech’s novel “Trip to Germany” and the epigram on Nikolai Polevoi, – and attributes these works to Rozen. The entire text of Rozen’s letters to Voeikov is appended to the article.
