Two Months in Czechoslovakia: P.G. Bogatyrev’s Trip in the Autumn of 1960

The article is devoted to the analysis of the report on the business trip abroad by Soviet ethnographer and folklorist P.G. Bogatyrev. This trip took place in Czechoslovakia in 1960. Researchers have a high demand for biography of P.G. Bogatyrev, however the trip in Czechoslovakia remained beyond their attention. This visit in 1960 was not only an important episode in the Bogatyrev's biography. For 20 years he hasn't been to Czechoslovakia, the country that had given him so much scientifically and personally. This trip was eventful and productive for the development of his academic contacts with Czechoslovak scientists. The opportunity to travel abroad is an evidence of a change in the attitude of the authorities towards P.G. Bogatyrev. During this trip he visited universities, museums, and scientific institutes of Prague, Bratislava, Brno, and Martin. Personal meetings of P.G. Bogatyrev with his Czech and Slovak colleagues were of great importance for the development of academic relations between the two countries. The archival report of the Bogatyrev’s visit is also attached.
