Symbolism and avantgarde in Hungarian literature of the early twentieth century. (In comparison with the experience of Russian literature)

The wave of rapid renewal that swept through the world literature gave rise, almost everywhere, to such a bright, but quite ambiguous phenomenon as the avant-garde. However, symbolism should also be considered a part of this renewal. There were national literatures where the symbolism took over the main function of renewal; this happened, for example, in Hungary, where the role of the poet Endre Ady was as important, as that of Vladimir Mayakovsky in Russia.
