Abstract

The article presents some characteristics of cultural landscapes of the transboundary ethnocultural region of Setomaa, including territories of South-Eastern Estonia and Western part of Pechory district of Pskov Region of the Russian Federation. Differences of cultural landscapes, induced by natural geological and geomorphological characteristics of the territory and the historical peculiarities of natural resource use and settlement are described. Internal cultural and historical division of Setomaa "nulki" ("corners"), territorial and generic community of Seto, formed during the period of maximum territory development and the highest population of the ethnos, are analysed. It is determined that the character of cultural landscapes of Setomaa territory was formed in the forefront of ethnocultural uplift by the end of 19th - beginning of 20th centuries, that was reflected in vocal and epic folklore, as well as in local signs, ceremonies and traditions. During that period the maximum level of economic use and cultural transformation of lands was reached, the contrast between the most and the least populated territories was specified.

The territory of Setomaa needs an integrated conservation of its landscape diversity, special natural objects and considered areas, as well as a preservation of endangered cultural landscapes in those parts of territorial and cultural community of Setomaa, where Seto population has almost disappeared (due to depopulation and outflow of original population). In this regard it is needed to have a close cooperation between Russia and Estonia in support of transboundary cultural exchange in the area of environmental protection, in development of transboundary routes and common projects of ethnical and environmental tourism.

1 Постановка проблемы. Сетомаа является исключительно интересным регионом для изучения взаимосвязи между этнокультурными особенностями природопользования местного этнического сообщества и ландшафтами их расселения. На сравнительно небольшой площади Сетомаа распространены разнообразные типы ландшафтов, относящиеся к восточной части возвышенности Хаанья, её продолжению — Изборскому плато, поясу древних долин и низменности, очерчивающей с юга Псковское озеро. Разнообразие рельефа стало одним из важнейших факторов в выборе мест размещения поселений, что прослеживается как в археологических данных, так и в современной географии сетоских поселений. Сето придавали большое значение как функционально значимым параметрам ландшафтов (наличию источника воды, плодородию почв, лесистости и др.), так и их эстетическим качествам. Местности с особенно живописным рельефом более насыщены культовыми памятниками и особо почитаемыми местами. Это позволяет рассмотреть взаимосвязи между физико-географической и культурно-исторической составляющими культурных ландшафтов Сетомаа.
2 При всей своей староосвоенности и древности заселения система расселения на данной территории, а также людность поселений и степень трансформации ландшафтов значительно изменились в ХХ в. Можно указать в первую очередь на демографические и геополитические причины этих изменений. Во-первых, на протяжении прошлого столетия этнос сето достиг максимальной численности населения в пределах традиционной территории расселения, а затем испытал миграционный оттоок и депопуляционные процессы, приведшие к критическому снижению демографического потенциала. Во-вторых, за сравнительно небольшой исторический срок на этой территории неоднократно происходили значительные изменения политико-административной принадлежности территории и положения государственной границы.
3 Все эти факторы определили географию современного расселения сетоского населения и очертили круг проблем, научное изучение которых позволяет объяснить диспропорции локальных систем расселения на территории Сетомаа, а также выявить наиболее значимые в контексте сохранения сетоского этнокультурного наследия ландшафтные комплексы и отдельные особо почитаемые природные объекты.
4 Целью исследования является выявление природной и историко-культурной уникальности отдельных ландшафтов и ландшафтных комплексов Сетомаа, изучение их современного состояния и перспектив охраны, сбалансированного природопользования и использования в туризме.
5 Материалы и методика исследования. Первичным является получение исходной информации о ландшафтах, которое осуществляется с использованием экспедиционных и дистанционных методов. В качестве основного источника первичной геопространственной информации о ландшафтах Сетомаа были использованы среднемасштабные и крупномасштабные карты общегеографического и тематического содержания (карты лесистости, геоморфологические карты и др.), на основе анализа которых были выявлены взаимосвязи между природными факторами и распространением и структурой ландшафтов. На основе библиографических данных (в т. ч. опубликованных перечней и описаний особо охраняемых природных и историко-культурных объектов, связанных с культурой сетоского этноса), материалов Эстонского национального музея (Eesti Rahva Muuseum) и полевых исследований были получены сведения о культурно-исторической специфике отдельных частей Сетомаа.
