Abstract

 

The direction of research that is poorly represented in the Russian-speaking scientific space – the psychology of solving personal problems – is discussed in the paper. The results and conclusions from the studies of complex, semi-structured problems and domain-specific problems solving can not be directly transferred to the field of social and personal problems solving. The actively developed approaches of T. D'Zurilla and P. Heppner are considered. They resulted in the construction of social and personal problems solving models that describe the main stages of this process. Problem solving styles and indicators of physical and psychological health, correlating with the ability to solve problems were analyzed. However, the "personal problem" construct, as well as the mechanisms for its solution, including its representation by the solver, has not been given due attention.

Based on the structural and strategic approaches, we propose the model of the representation of the personal problems as a complex dynamic system of personally significant elements, connections and interrelations between them. The article details the content of the representation of the initial state and the goal state of the personal problem. The proposed model of the personal problem solving representation can be put in the basis of the methods development for its investigation. It allows us to disclose new content aspects of this kind of problems.
