Abstract

The paper analyzes the trade negotiations during the first years immediately after World War II that led to the establishment of the International Trade Organization (ITO), the third world economic organization planned alongside the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The special attention is devoted to the Anglo-American disputes upon the post=war international trade system.
