A forgotten front. Suriname. Dutch possessions in the New World during WW2

The article explores the role of the then Dutch possessions in the New World (primarily through Surinam) in the context of WW2, the circumstances of negotiations between the government in exile of the Netherlands and US authorities about the American military presence in Suriname and Curaçao, the disembarkation of the United States troops in Surinam and Curaçao accompanied by Brazilians and Venezuelans, participation of people born in Surinam in military actions in the Atlantic Ocean and in Asia and in the European Resistance and the growth of anticolonial sentiments due to the activities of people of Surinam linked to the Communist International.
