Abstract

The literature work of the early Medieval Armenian author Sebeos, traditionally perceived as “History”, poses a lot of problems for researchers, ranging from establishing the authorship and determining the structure of the work to solving specific issues related to the author’s coverage of certain events. However, despite the centuries-long tradition of studying this text, scholars have never raised the problem of time perception and temporality reflected in this work. Meanwhile, the methods of time fixation, the ways of dating events, the author’s choice of chronological system, and the whole system of temporality as such help to shed light on how the author saw his work and what the author’s intention was.
