Abstract

The history of the Mongolian collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences has been already documented and studied in sufficient detail. However, the circumstances of the appearance of the first Mongolian books in the Library of the Academy of Sciences in the first half of the 18th century and their contents has not yet been duly researched. The paper contains an overview of information about the possible sources of Mongolian texts during this period, and provides a detailed description of six Mongolian and Oirat manuscripts with the seal of the Library of the Academy of Sciences, which have not been studied so far and have not been included in the history of the formation of the Mongolian collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts.
