Abstract

The article demonstrated the processes of mythologizing and “political appropriation” of history on the example of pro-scientific historical concepts of Polish authors who substantiated the annexation of southwestern Rus’ to Poland. These concepts are narrative practices that clearly show the possibilities of historiography as an instrument of ideological support of practical policy and a factor in the formation of national cultural and historical mythologemes that had a significant impact on the formation of national identity. By the example of the approaches of several Polish historians to the coverage of Polish-Russian relations, the continuity of the axiological dominants of the national historiography of Poland at the pro-scientific and scientific stages of its development is shown.
