The Irish Factor in the Brexit Negotiations

The article deals with the significance of the irish question as the main obstacle to the brexit negotiations. The principal attention is devoted to the british-irish border, which in the case of Brexit will divide the UK and the EU. It is shown that the Irish Republic is against the hard border, which is threatening to the Belfast agreement of 1998 and the peace process in Northern Ireland. The Republic comes out in favour of a special status for Northern Ireland voted against Brexit. The important part of the article is devoted to the perspective of uniting Ireland, and also economic and political relations between UK, Irish Republic and Northern Ireland.
