New Trends in the Digitization of Manuscripts and Scientific-Reference Apparatus of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Documents

The article is devoted to the methods of document digitization and indexation of files and inventories at the Russian State Archive of Ancient Documents (RSAAD). Such questions as obtaining and storing historical information, storage formats, the possibility of acquiring scanning equipment and import substitution are considered; the researchers’ super task in improving the reference apparatus is disclosed; the current RSAAD projects on the publication of documents and cooperation with other scientific and educational institutions are discussed. The necessity of preparing a methodological manual for the digitization of documents is substantiated, which will consider issues related to the use of flatbed scanners, which have no alternatives in a number of operations, and clarify the specifics of using certain formats when saving graphic information.
