Abstract

The main focus of the review is the All-Russian Scientific Conference “Africa: Postcolonial Discourse”. It was held on June 25—26, 2020 at the Demidov Yaroslavl State University (YSU). The co-founders of the forum are the Laboratory of Oriental and African Studies of the Department of General History of YSU and the Center for History and Cultural Anthropology of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The conference was one of the first attempts at a collective understanding of postcolonialism and (in the context) contemporary African Studies in Russia. The reports concerned social and cultural anthropology, intellectual, personal, gender history and a radical renewal (essential maintenance) of the corpus of sources in the context of digitalization. The conference was forced to take place in the online format, which indicates that scientific life responding to the challenges of time has acquired new parameters of existence.
