Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the most significant novelties of the criminal procedure legislation in the Kyrgyz Republic related to the entry into force of the Criminal Procedure Code in 2019. The subject of the author's interest was primarily innovations of pre-trial proceedings as a key stage of the criminal process, although innovations of a judicial nature were not ignored. The author comes to the conclusion that the adoption of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2019 is another step in the evolutionary development of criminal proceedings in line with the continental legal tradition. Despite a certain expansion of adversarial principles, the criminal process of the Kyrgyz Republic remains mixed, with the dominant role of pre-trial proceedings.
