Abstract

Based on the analysis of scientific publications, the provisions of the sources of Church law, the definition of the concept of "Canon" is given, its place, as well as interaction with other norms in the system of Church law on the example of the rank of consecration is shown. The unique features of Church law, as well as the special role of canons as special guiding moral and legal norms in this system of law, their relationship with the dogmas of the Church are considered. Concrete examples are given confirming that Church and secular law have much in common: they have common roots, a similar structure, some common sources of consolidation of norms, are in a single territorial and legal space, interact in solving common social problems, especially those that lie in the plane of high morality, etc. It is concluded that the canons in Church law is designed to ensure that their governing regulations to specify the limits and ways of ordering Church relations specific proto-pitchfork, and ultimately to fill the canons of the specific and diverse content. Build the appropriate hierarchy of different norms.
