Abstract

Abstract. The banking sector performs the most important functions in ensuring sustainable economic development. Providing a wide range of financial services to individuals and legal entities (deposits, payments and money transfers, currency exchange, lending, leasing operations, etc.), banks are generally recognized as the "circulatory system" of the economy. Moreover, the approaches used today to assess financial stability in the banking sector cannot reliably characterize the impact of these financial institutions on ensuring economic security of various levels: as a separate region, city, industry, economic entity, and a country, state generally. The aim of the study is to develop tools for assessing the contribution of banking to economic security. The main scientific tools of the work were economic-mathematical and financial types of analysis. Also applied in the work: content analysis, qualitatively-quantitative scaling, matrix-morphological and information modeling. The paper highlights a list of factors that characterize the impact of the banking sector on the economic security; the degree of influence is determined, as well as a list of possible discrete states of each factor; an approach has been developed to assess the contribution of banking activity to the stability of the economic system. The reliability of the research results is confirmed by the practical application for the joint-stock innovative commercial bank “Ipak Yuli” of Uzbekistan Republic. Testing showed that the proposed approach allows us to give a quantitatively comparable assessment of the degree of influence of banking activities on ensuring economic security, depending on a wide list of conditions of identified influence factors. Recommendations on improving the functioning parameters for the financial institution being evaluated are formulated.
