Abstract

It has been found that in West Siberia the main oil deposits are related to Triassic rifts and are situated chiefly in places of well developed Precambrian complexes in the basement. This is due to the fact that: 1. Rifts are permeable zones draining the upper mantle; 2. Deformations and sedimentary cover structures become formed by the basement. The basement thickness in average 14 times greater than that of sedimentary cover. Taking into account mean basement rock strength (153±10 MPa) basement strength is two order of magnitude greater than sedimentary cover strength. Sialic blocks considered as Precambrian ones are formed with granitoids and metamorphic schists with density deficiency of 0.05-0.07 g/cm3. They came out to the level of the upper crust in time of Triassic rifting and continued uplifting isostatically, that formed above them antiforms in the sedimentary cover filled with oil.
