Abstract

This review article presents the basic characteristics of the grammar of Kayardild, an Australian language possessing a typologically unique system of multiple marking of morphosyntactic features. The paper focuses on the recent book by E. Round «Kayardild morphology and syntax» (2013), which is an example of empirically oriented formalized description of morphosyntax largely revising the previous analyses of this language. The significance of the data of Kayardild as well as of the methodology of its analysis for linguistic typology and theory is demonstrated.
