Abstract

This publication comprises a brief introduction devoted to a creative biography of Olga Antonovna Dobiash-Rozhdestvenskaya (1874–1939), a prominent medievalist, paleographer, and historian of science, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and a previously unpublished text of her speech at the Creative Conference of Women Scientists of Leningrad, held on March 5–7, 1937 and dedicated to the 20 th anniversary of the establishment of Soviet Rule. The concluding speech at the Conference, it contained the Leningrad women scientists’ positions on different issues, and the promises they gave to their country. At the same time, in this speech, O. A. Dobiash-Rozhdestvenskaya had expressed her personal views on women’s role and place in science and society. The original manuscript is stored at O. A. Dobiash-Rozhdestvenskaya’s personal funds at the Manuscripts Department of the National Library of Russia. The paper is accompanied by the relevant archeographic comments.
