This is a synоpsis of the Wayne C. Thompson book Canada 2018-2019, published by Rowman & Littlefield in the series The World today, which are published annually and provide important details and analysis for each country or region, with a focus on the realities of today’s events. The book Canada 218-2019 is written by W. Thompson, Professor of political science at Washington and Lee University (Lexington, Virginia, USA). He is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the Virginia Military Institute. He had studied, researched and lectured in the USA and European countries ((Belgium, Germany, Poland, France, Estonia). He has authored and edited 10 books and many articles on the history, politics and political theory. The Canadian government awarded him a Faculty Enrichment Grant to do research in Canada. The outcome of his research visit was the book “Canada” published in the series “World today”. The title “Canada” was assigned to all of the thirty-four reeditions of the book. Their authorship belongs to Professor W. Thomson, who continued to look at the political and economic development of Canada. The book consists of 11 parts: introduction (named “Canada Today”); "Culture"; "Geography"; "People"; "History"; "Political system"; "Foreign policy"; "Defense"; Economy; the conclusion (entitled "the Future"), and a list of Web Sites and Bibliography. This is an updated presentation of Canada past and present which provides the reader an indepth look at the country’s political, economic and cultural development and helps to understand the political traditions of Canada and the psychology of its people.
