Abstract

In the article the system of Russian youth traditional moral values is investigated. The authors identified major social factors influencing its formation. A set of traditional values is ascertained underlying social attitudes of young people enrolled in educational institutions of the Volgograd region using the method of selective associations. The most important for youth are values in which are concepts dominant such as «strong family», «patriotism», «strong state», «love thy neighbor», «fortitude» and «faith». Previously considered fundamental for the Russian people «collectivism» and «search for truth» has lost significance. Protest and nihilistic sentiments are characteristic for a small part of Volgograd youth (around 3%). The authors concluded that the traditional spiritual and moral values continue to be important regulators of social behavior of youth.
