Socio-psychological state of the Vologda region population in crisis periods: socio-structural characteristics

The purpose of the work is to study the psychological state of the Vologda Oblast population. The method is a sociological survey of the Vologda Oblast population (quota sample, N = 1500). The time interval captures the pre-pandemic period, the pandemic situation of 2020-2021 and the post-pandemic period (2022). The study confirms the hypothesis that the social situation during this time period was of a pronounced stressful nature, which was reflected in the increased symptoms of mental health disorders of the population, a decrease in life satisfaction. The dynamics of assessments of the psychological state of the regional community suggests, on the one hand, that adaptation processes are underway. However, there are social groups that adapt rather slowly, most likely due to lack of resources. It is shown that the prevalence of symptoms of mental health disorders differs in socio-demographic groups. In crisis conditions, age and financial situation have the greatest impact on the psychological well-being of the population of the Vologda Oblast. The novelty of the study lies in the expansion of empirical data on the psychological state of the regional community.
