Abstract

The article discusses the main provisions of A.V. Shipilov's book "Before and After Modernity". The author focuses on changes in the sphere of work and leisure, attitude to property, mobility, transformation of sociality itself and interactions of individuals, which affects the formation of thinking, thinks about temporality and historicism. Revealing these essential points, the author compares modern trends with the pre-modern period. Shipilov asks: aren't we moving back into the past? "Won't the epoch of the end of history become like what it was before it began?" This is the originality of the book. Shipilov's research is a vivid example of interdisciplinarity. Despite the abstract nature of the monograph, its positive qualities are noted, which allow us to think about the processes in modern society, especially in the youth cohort, the group most susceptible to change.
