Abstract

On the basis of bibliographic analysis of publications, taking into account archival materials, P.A. Sorokin's little known in the history of sociology cooperation with the German Sociological Society in the interwar period is revealed. Being the colleague and the personal friend of P.A. Sorokin, L. von Wiese became the organizer of German sociology, who simultaneously with P.A. Sorokin proposed the system of general sociology and published P.A. Sorokin’s articles in this regard in the journal «Cologne Journal for Sociology» and reviews on his works. The commonality and difference in their understanding of the subject and methods of sociology, its interdisciplinary connections, which are important for the institutionalization of the scientific discipline, are revealed. An analysis of publications and reviews in German sociological journals proves the intermediary role of P.A. Sorokin between the sociology of the Old and New Worlds. This role was primarily realized in the editorial board of the journal «Sociologus. Journal of Sociology and Social Psychology and Sociology» by R. Thurnwalt. Information is given about the growth of his authority in German sociology, in particular, contacts with the publisher of «Yearbook for Sociology» G. Salomon-Delatour. The importance of studying such contacts for the history of sociology is confirmed by the holistic and objective assessment of the personality and work of P.A. Sorokin in German sociology.
