Abstract

Anthropology as a human science higlights the interweavings of cultures beyond the traditional framework of comparison. We can easily apply models from anthropology to the question of cultural transfers : for instance the peregrinations of Australian tribes through the symbolic spaces of the continent or the transformation of Spanish culture in the Indian tribes of Latin America or the complicated relations between complementary groups like the Dinkas and Nuers, according to the work of Evans–Pritchard, provide a very usable model of cultural transfer. This model can be used even in European contexts, where anthropological research developed its first roots.  The research on cultural transfers has to combine the evidence of plurality with the necessity of a fleeting moment of substantial unicity in the connected cultural areas.

Many anthropologists (from Franz Boas to Malinowski) addressed the question of cultural transfers not only in their theories but also in their life. As a field of inquiries the theory of cultural transfers involves a precise historical evaluation of most human sciences from roman philology till orientalism or art history. Cultural transfers may be enlarged to the combination of three cultures and described in a transnational concept history.
