Abstract

The article considers enjambment in its relation to patterns of verse segmentation — the two types of poetic units’ interruption, which are not commonly addressed in scholarship side by side. The historiography of the question is accounted for; the major approaches to defining enjambment in the Russian and world traditions (French, German, and Anglo-American), modern, Medieval, and ancient are analyzed and classified.

1 В научной литературе разных лет, к настоящему моменту принявшей практически необозримый характер даже в пределах одной национальной традиции, понятие стихового переноса (далее СП), или переброса, перескока, зашагивания, анжамбемана, анжанбемана и анжамбмана [ср. также франц. enjambement, но англ. enjambment], текучей строки, синафии, конкатенации, etc., трактуется в рамках различных подходов крайне неоднозначно, что существенно затрудняет теоретическое осмысление данного непростого феномена.
2 Научный анализ объекта принято сопровождать рассмотрением истории вопроса, при пропуске данной процедуры исследование не может претендовать на высокую степень адекватности; между тем история изучения СП начинается с ряда античных концепций, которые, как будет показано в дальнейшем изложении, во многом определили современные представления о СП, в частности его узкие и широкие трактовки, но вместе с тем до сих пор не получили в специальной литературе ни достаточного освещения, ни адекватной оценки.
3 Ниже предложены систематизация существующих трактовок СП, а также анализ основных моментов истории развития данного понятия.

1. СП в узком смысле
5 В узком смысле СП может быть определён как такое перемещение части синтаксической единицы (при синтаксическом переносе) либо части словоформы (при внутрисловном переносе1) из одного стиха в следующий, которое приводит к делению строки сильным синтаксическим швом2. Пример синтаксического переноса: (а)К нему не подойти на расстояние → (б)ружейного выстрела. || Скала не скажет → (в)нам, || как зовут министра. || Заходящее → (г)над Европой красное солнце не слепит (д)его глаза с расширенными зрачками […] С. Опыт силлабической организации Строка (а) даёт сброс (rejet) на строку (б), строка (в) – наброс (contre-rejet) со строк (г) и (д), в стихах (б) и (в) наблюдаем двойной бросок (double-rejet). Внутрисловный перенос нарушает целостность слова (или, точнее, словоформы, синтаксемы) как слогового и / или морфологического единства, отсюда термины слоговой перенос и морфологический перенос [нем. das morphologische Enjambement].

2. Под синтаксическим швом условимся понимать границу между синтаксемами. Сильный синтаксический шов отмечен фонетически (в частности, паузой, звуковым повтором, etc.) либо графически (например, пунктуационно), слабым следует считать синтаксический шов, не отмеченный указанными средствами. Если полагать, что единицей речи является синтаксема (т. е. словоформа в определённом контекстуальном смысле), слово же как единица языковой системы представляет собой абстрактную парадигму, отвлечённую от всех его возможных конкретно-речевых форм и значений, то окажется, что регулярно используемые в отечественной филологии термины словораздел и меж(ду)словная граница менее точны, чем термин синтаксический шов в указанном нами значении. Как кажется, противостояние этих терминов отвечает противостоянию привычной для нас бытовой (отождествляющей слово и словоформу) и научной картин мира.
6 Считается, что СП “[…] ускоряет <движение взгляда> читателя к следующей строкеˮ [1, с. 133], создаёт “эффект буксира (tugging effect)ˮ [2, с. 407]; данный эффект способна усилить цепочка СП, ср.:

7 Термин слоговой перенос не представляется точным, поскольку: а) при внутрисловном переносе перемещается не только слог; б) в бытовом сознании такой перенос едва ли ориентируется на академическую теорию слогоделения.
