Abstract

The author classifies the existing research literature on the Greek financial and economic crisis of 2010. Russian researchers, as the author notes, started showing certain interest in the events of the financial crisis from its very outset, in February-March, 2010. The article also explores the works by foreign scholars, which analyse the causes of the crisis, evaluate the efficiency of the financial assistance program and discuss the possibility of bankruptcy and withdrawal from the monetary union as a viable option for solving Greek economic problems.

Keywordshistoriography, Greece, financial and economic crisis, 2010 Memorandum,George Papandreou, George Alogoskoufis, Yanis Varoufakis.
