Abstract

The article considers Vaclav Havel’s worldview as much as it contributes to understanding of the peculiarities of his political course, political preferences and statements. Such an analysis helps to find an answer to the question about the reasons for Havel’s continued popularity both among his fellow-citizens and in the international arena. Important elements in Havel’s worldview are the ideas about the relationship between human, national and civilizational identities, as well as the justification of anti-Communism. Absurdism and Postmodernism might be identified as the key concepts in identifying its specifics, as they were manifested at the early stage of Havel’s formation as a thinker.
