Calculation of the ethnic contrast coefficient on the example of the republic of the Ural-Volga region

One of the tasks in the process of developing the concept of ethnocontact zones is a quantitative assessment of the degree of manifestation of ethnocontact zones. In this regard, there is a need to find an indicator that could measure the degree of ethnic contrast. The aim of the study is to calculate the coefficients of ethnic contrast in the republics of the Ural-Volga region. The presented development is based on the calculated by E. L. Soroko paired ethnic coefficients that estimate “interethnic distances” based on the prevalence of mixed marriages. This indicator, in order to secure authorship in its calculation, is proposed to be called the Soroko coefficient. In addition, in a study for five republics of the Ural-Volga region, according to which the Soroko coefficient was determined (Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, Mordovia and Udmurtia), according to the results of the 2021 census, the ethnic mosaic index was calculated, and then adjusted taking into account the value of the republican coefficients Soroko. Only in one of the republics (Bashkortostan), the Soroko coefficient exceeded one, and therefore the value of the ethnic mosaic index increased after the corresponding adjustment. In other republics, the Soroko coefficient was less than one, so the value of the ethnic mosaic index decreased. It is concluded that the Soroko coefficient can be used to assess the degree of manifestation of ethnocontact zones. But to continue research in this direction, it is necessary to calculate “interethnic distances” at least between all the titular peoples of the national subjects of the Russian Federation.

1	Введение. Одной из задач, стоящих перед исследователями, занимающимися разработкой концепции этноконтактных зон (ЭКЗ), является количественная оценка степени выраженности ЭКЗ. В настоящее время для этого используется индекс этнической мозаичности, с помощью которого оценивается пестрота национального состава населения. Однако едва ли правильно определять степень выраженности этноконтактных зон, основываясь только на сложности этнической структуры населения, без учёта языковой и культурной близости этносов. То есть существует потребность в поиске показателя, который смог бы измерить степень этнической контрастности.
2	Целью исследования является расчёт, на основе парных этнических коэффициентов, оценивающих «межэтнические расстояния», региональных коэффициентов этнической контрастности на примере республик Урало-Поволжья.
3	В качестве информационной базы исследования выступают результаты переписи населения 2021 г. по пяти республикам Урало-Поволжья (Башкортостан, Татарстан, Чувашская, Мордовия и Удмуртия)¹, а также расчёты «межэтнических расстояний», осуществлённых Е. 4	Исходные предпосылки. Этноконтактные зоны можно классифицировать по разным признакам. Например, Т. И. Герасименко предлагает выделение двуэтничных и полиэтничных ЭКЗ [3]. Также возможна классификация ЭКЗ по степени их выраженности. Два десятилетия назад А. Г. Манаков [10] предложил определять степень выраженности ЭКЗ, опираясь на величину индекса этнической мозаичности (ИЭМ). Само понятие «этническая мозаичность» ввёл в конце 60-х гг. ХХ в. В. В. Покшишевский [12], но собственно использование индекса этнической мозаичности (ИЭМ) в отечественной науке предложил во второй половине 1970-х гг. Б. М. Эккель [18; 19]. Данный показатель рассчитывается по следующей формуле:

6	В последующем ИЭМ стал часто применяться в исследованиях, проводимых отечественными этнодемографами и этногеографами ([6–9; 11; 13; 17; 22; 24] и др.). В зарубежной науке данный показатель начал использоваться раньше, ещё во второй половине 1950-х гг. Первоначально он был предложен Дж. Гринбергом [21] для измерения лингвистической мозаичности территорий, а в последующем и для оценки этнического разнообразия стран и регионов. За данным показателем в зарубежной науке закрепилось название «индекс этнической фракционализации» ([20; 23] и др.), используемое и рядом отечественных исследователей, в основном экономистов, например, [1; 2; 15] и др.
7	Как отмечают Д. Ю. Дорофеева и М. С. Савоскул [7], ИЭМ позволяет беспрепятственно сравнивать мозаичность национального состава любых сопоставимых территорий. Именно это привело А. Г. Манакова к идее использовать ИЭМ для оценки степени выраженности ЭКЗ. Им было предложено, с помощью ИЭМ, отделять моноэтничные территории (ИЭМ менее 0,2) от этноконтактных зон, и выделять, соответственно, неярко выраженные ЭКЗ (ИЭМ от 0,2 до 0,4), ярко выраженные ЭКЗ (ИЭМ от 0,4 до 0,6) и наиболее полиэтничные территории (ИЭМ свыше 0,6) [10; 11].
