Abstract

The procedure for developing of a tool for evaluating creativity and critical thinking of primary school pupils performed in the logic of “systematic approach to the development of measuring tools” (Evidence-centered Design; ECD) is described in the article. The computerized test is a set of scenarios where the pupil in a playful way has to solve a problem from his/her everyday experience (to design a home aquarium, to invent a character for a fantastic story, etc.). Theoretical analysis of the measured constructs is given according to the ECD methodology, their structure is proposed, the developed scenarios as well as an empirical study (N = 909 fourth-grade students) are described. As a result, the validity of the developed tool including compliance with theoretical expectations about the structure of creativity and critical thinking in early school age has been confirmed.
