Abstract

Generalized ideas about supra-situation thinking as a person’s e cognitive resource are presented. The results of a series of empirical studies that characterize the role of personal, environmental (professional environment) and situational factors (innovations in education system, situations of criticism and lack of time) in manifestations of supra-situational thinking as a cognitive resource are presented. It has been revealed that the variability in the implementation of a supra-situational view of a problem situation and the way to solve problems is determined by environmental and situational factors. For students’ sample (N = 180), it has been shown that correlation between supra-situational thinking and personal characteristics can be observed by the end of their university education unlike the beginning of their training. In the sample of specialists in the field of education (N = 150), correlations between supra-situational thinking and such environmental factors as innovations (reduce the role of supra-situational resource, efficiency and depth of understanding in decision-making), criticism (reduces meta-cognitive signs of supra-situational thinking), time deficit (reduces originality and other indicators of decision-making) have been revealed. Differences in indicators of managers ' supra-situational thinking according to cross-sections in 2003 (N=66) and 2018 (N=120) have been revealed; the latter can be due to changes in the role of business- education and peculiarities of professional environment. It is proposed to consider the phenomenon of suprasituativity as a cognitive resource for implementation of structural-functional and procedural-effective positions in the future.
