Abstract

The authors give an answer to the participants of the discussion about the forecast of psychological science and practice development up to 2030 which was published in the Journal along with the speeches of these participants. The authors mention difficulties of forecasting and the data demonstrating that forecasts rarely come true. At the same time they share the opinion of P. Dickson who stated that false forecasts are not necessarily bad ones because they carry out many useful functions helping in particular to understand better the past and comprehend the present. Some other problems raised by the participants of the discussion like the specificity of Russian psychology and it’s relation with world’s psychology centered in the Westare also considered. The issues of psychological science crisis, lesser optimism of experts towards prospects of Russian psychological science and practice in comparison with the other countries’ ones, etc. are discussed as well.
