Abstract

The article presents results of empirical research of the relationship between the different periods of remission and the subjective world picture in adults with substance dependence. The research studied the following characteristics of the subjective world picture: images of father and mother (modification of questionnaire “Parental behavior and attitudes of adolescents to them”); subjective picture of development (“questionnaire on identifying a subjective picture of development”); psychological space sovereignty (questionnaire “The sovereignty of the individual psychological space”).

The research studied 109 adults with a substance dependence (alcohol and drug abuse). The research participants (N=109) with substance dependences were at the different remission stages: from 2 weeks up to 2 months (rehabilitation group, N=52); from 2 months up to 8 years (remission group, N=58). The subjective picture of the world in rehabilitation group gives evidence of the subjects’ experience of staying in the hospital. The remission group subjective picture of the world demonstrates that family relationships and inner world representation increase. Also the remission group demonstrates negative images of father and mother (compared with the rehabilitation group).
