Abstract | On the eve of the 20th Congress (autumn 2022), the CPC Central Committee adopted a “Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century”. The “Resolution” summarizes the activities of the Chinese Communists over 100 years and assesses the main events and personalities of the period. Despite the “historical” title, only less than half of the entire text reviews past events, and the remainder focuses on the main elements of China's social development strategy until 2050, making it by far the most comprehensive explanation of the goals of the neo-socialist turn, which was initiated by Xi Jinping after came to power ten years ago. This article examines the content of the "Resolution" from a political economy perspective, based on the dynamics of property rights and political views in different periods of China's existence, including in the context of the Soviet experience of building socialism. |
