Abstract | The article deals with the problems of world trade and international maritime transport in the context of modern risks associated with the protracted COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's special operation on the territory of Ukraine, with a smoothing effect of digitalization processes and increased requirements for the greening of ships. It is grounded that the current imbalance of supply and demand in the field of maritime transport has a significant impact on the formation of world prices for international trade, 4/5 of the physical volume of which is carried out by sea transport. It has been determined that Russia's foreign trade transactions are currently carried out in a high-risk zone: in addition to global risks, internal risks associated with the majority of the deadweight of Russian ships belonging to a foreign flag, their deterioration, the effect of Western sanctions, etc. have been identified. It is shown that high tariff rates for maritime transport and disruptions in the operation of maritime transport, combined with geopolitical tensions, can undermine the post-pandemic recovery of the entire global economic system. |
