Abstract

The review provides information about the work of the session "Kazan Law Schools: Past in the Present", held on September 29, 2023 at the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University as part of the II Kazan International Legal Forum.

The session participants, graduates of Kazan University, currently representing the leading educational and scientific centers of the Russian Federation, dedicated their speeches to outstanding scientists, who have made an invaluable contribution to the development of the Kazan Law School, whose anniversaries are celebrated in 2023. In addition, controversial issues were raised about the essence of law schools, the factors of their creation, formation, etc. Plans for future work were also outlined to increase the availability of scientific works of outstanding legal scholars at Kazan University of the Soviet and pre-revolutionary periods.

The session ended with the ceremonial opening of a memorial plaque in memory of Yury S. Reshetov – Honored Professor of Kazan University, Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Tatarstan, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, who worked from 1972 to 2019 at Kazan University, from 1987 to 2015 – Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Kazan University.
